Rock Outside with Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County!

April 20th, 2017 by Laura Smith

Hey Fort Collins!

OK, now that we have your attention we have a fun scavenger hunt for you! Thanks to the creative mind of our Arts Program Specialist at the Fort Collins Unit, dozens of painted rocks have been hidden all over Fort Collins. We need YOUR help in finding these adorable rocks. If you spot one while hiking, running, biking, taking a stroll, grabbing some ice cream, etc...make sure to post a picture of you (and the rock!) to our Facebook page.

Please rehide the rocks after you've taken your silly photos so others can rock(out) as well.

We're all about free fun here at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County, and what is more fun that #optingoutside and finding painted rocks?!

Now go hunt, we'll see you out there.

A humorous display of theatre perfection

August 4th, 2016 by Laura Smith

"Break a leg" was quietly murmured around the Estes Park club last Thursday and Friday as club members from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County Estes Park location geared up for their theatre debut of "The Hysterical History of the Trojan War."

"The Hysterical History of the Trojan War," a play by D.M. Larson is a historical overview of the Trojan War with humorous tidbits thrown in. Because history is always easier to understand and remember when you have a slight stitch in your side.

Club Members of Estes Park worked extremely hard on this production and were rewarded with a packed house and plenty of applause.

As part of the BGCLC summer plan to educate and immerse youth in a variety of activities, this performance was just one of many valuable experiences club members were able to experience this season.

If you weren't able to catch this showing, make sure to mark your calendar for yet another Estes Park performance on Aug. 10 at 5 p.m. at Performance Park as club members perform with Ballet Renaissance to conclude an amazing summer.

Hats off to you club members, keep up the great work!

Performing Arts in the Clubs

January 28th, 2016 by Jenna Riedi

Recently, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County took on the initiative to boost the visual and performing arts programming at the Clubs.  One major change was hiring a full time Arts Program Specialist at both the Fort Collins and Loveland Units.  Previously, this programming was overseen by a part time arts specialist and interns.  With just a few months of this expansion on the arts programming, we are already seeing wonderful things come from the youth interested in the arts.  Here are just a few things the youth have done in our performing arts programming this month.  Enjoy!

The Arts at BGCLC

April 30th, 2015 by Talia Sanders

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County encourages and excites our youth to appreciate, learn, and participate in the arts by offering a wide range of arts programming. BGCLC offers both visual and performing arts. Our art programming includes many different ways for members to express themselves creatively, literarily, visually, musically, and theatrically.

Visual Arts
Club kids have the opportunity to participate in daily visual art activities centered around the categories of drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits.

Performing Arts
Participants have the opportunity to engage in performing art activities with our full time performing arts staff. Performing arts curriculum at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County includes the entire process of creating a theatric production from scriptwriting, set design, costume, prop creation, and finally performing in front of an audience. BGCLC also offers improv workshops for youth, puppetry, music, dance and more. Drama education builds self-confidence, sparks creativity and boosts academic achievement.
